Srinagar, May 31 (KNO): Ahead of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s meeting with NC legislators on Wednesday, Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma on Sunday said that the Chief Minister would not resign even from the position of executive councillor, as long as his protocol remains intact. Speaking to reporters, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sharma said Omar Abdullah would accept any status for Jammu and Kashmir- even below that of a Union Territory -provided his protocol remains intact. “Remember my prediction: no one, even from the next generations of the Abdullah family, would resign. The Abdullah family is seated on the Chief Minister’s chair. God forbid, if Jammu & Kashmir gets Hill Council on the pattern of Ladakh, and Omar becomes an executive councillor, he still wouldn’t resign from that position,” Sharma said. He added that there is no question of resignation from a family he described as “power-hungry,” alleging that they “got 50,000 Kashmiris killed for their chair.” “They (NC) are saying they are ready to settle for J&K’s position lower than UT status, provided there is no reduction in their cavalcade of 12 vehicles or protocol,” Sharma said. The Leader of Opposition further accused the NC and PDP of running a “so-called movement” to keep “incompetent princes and princesses of two families” in power. “They bled Jammu & Kashmir for 36 hours to save their chairs,” he said. On the CM’s upcoming meeting with MLAs, Sharma claimed that Omar Abdullah is attempting to ensure that infighting within the party does not spill into the public domain—(KNO)
